Daewoong Pharm. Opened In-house Nursery for the First Time in Pharmaceutical Industry

Daewoong Pharm. Co., Ltd. (CEO Jong Wook Lee) established the in-house nursery ‘Daewoong Little Bear Childcare’ for the first time in the pharmaceutical industry and its door is opened on December 1st. The attempts to create ‘the Favorable Working Place’ have harvested another outcome to relieve the burden off of woman employees, 30 percent of the entire staff.

Daewoong Little Bear Childcare was opened on the first floor of Daewoong Pharm. HQ in Samsung-doing of Kang-Nam, Seoul. Even with the costly renting fee, this result was from altering the original plan to build it in the Annex building by accepting the opinions of women employees that they feel much comfortable to be in the same building with their children. It has the total scale of 433.6 m2 and capacity of 40. Four professional teachers with bachelors and masters degrees in early childhood education and children education and the director, Hyun Wook Kim are expected to operate reading programs in conjunction with personality centered education for children in age from 0 to 5. 100 percent eco-friendly materials were used along with birch and surveillance cameras are installed all over the place for mothers’ peace of mind. 

Affection and pressure from the ‘mothers’ took a large share of the birth of the first premium childcare facility in the pharmaceutical industry. In order to increase the employees satisfaction on the childcare facility, the company composed TFT by recruiting in-house working moms and made them choose from the pre-survey, selection of architectural materials, to recruitment of the teachers and caretakers. Mothers’ touch has been affected meticulously on the curriculum and the diet with fresh organic foods. The faith in this childcare facility is significant among the employees for it is the ‘nursery made by moms.

Hyo Woong Kim, a manager from development strategy department who came to use the facility for her 10 month old daughter expressed expectations of the policy saying, “I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my baby less than a year old at a private nursery. From now on for I will commute with my child right next to me, occasions to drink after work will be naturally reduced and so I would be able to work more efficiently.”

Director Hyun Wook Kim said, “One of the benefits with in-house childcare facility is that the kids could feel the peace of mind by being in the same place as their children. For it is being supported by the company, the service provided will be in good quality with a variety of programs.”
