- First success if it passes clinical test for spine disk 

- Dental equipment to be released in 2011, and orthopedics to be 2012.


Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (President Lee Jong Wook) has approved a clinical test for NOVOSIS, a new-concept medical equipment combining bone graft and BMP2 (protein promoting bone growth). This clinical test shall take 12 months, and if successful, the product will be released as medical equipment for bone disk treatment in 2012. If the clinical test is successful, it will be the first case in Korea, and the second in the world, of the development of BMP-2 fusion medical equipment used for bone graft.
Generally, spine disk treatment consists of autogenous bone graft. But when NOVOSIS is used, better adhesion, less operation time, less bleeding and rapid recovery can be expected. In particular, complications and the need for subsequent operations are reduced thanks to the strong bone generation effect of NOVOSIS, even for patients with low bone density. 

This clinical test shall be carried out in the Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul Asan Hospital, and overseas market advancement is planned depending on the clinical test result. The current BMP-2 products, mainly in the bond graft market in the US, have the disadvantages of high price and high side effects. In contrast, NOVOSIS is relatively economical and seems to have high competitiveness in the markets of advanced countries like the USA.
