Daewoong EGF medicine and ‘EGF ointment’ recently received quite a bit of attention at the world largest pharmaceutical festival. The occasion was the 3rd Pharm Expo Symposium sponsored by the Korean Pharmaceutical Association, which was held on the 12th.



In the seminar “EGF opens a new era of healing injury,” Professor Hong Jun Pyo of Seoul Asan Hospital remarked that “since its discovery in 1962 by Dr. Stanley Cohen, EGF has proven to have excellent cell growing effects. In particular, it is outstanding in forming new tissue on an injured area, and in creating new blood vessels. EGF is a strong growth factor that promotes cell movement and activates the cell layer to create new tissue.”

Professor Hong said that EGF had cured injury more rapidly compared with the contrast group in the clinical experiment. In addition, there was a report that a diabetes patient who had been considered as a candidate for a leg amputation had improved his symptoms a great deal after using EGF medicine.  

Bae Sin Ja, a pharmacist attending the seminar (Namyoungsa Drug store in Saha-gu, Busan) said “People do not use medicines properly, even though they have several ointments at home. So this seminar reminded me to promote proper treatments among patients.”

Daewoong Pharmaceutical (President Lee Jong Wook) developed EGF as a medicine for the first time in the world in 2001, and EGF medicine as the first new biomedicine in Korea. Then, Daewoong released EGF ointment last October. EGF ointment, the first medicine in Korea containing an EGF component, has no risk of side effects, as it has no steroids. It helps to prevent scars in an innovative way. 

Daewoong Pharmaceutical opened an advertisement booth during the event to demonstrate EGF ointment, ‘Impactamin Power’ a vitamin supplement, and Ursa. 



Meanwhile, on the 11th, the eve of the Pharm Expo, national football player Cha Duri visited the expo and was very-well-received by pharmacists and the public. After posing for a picture with pharmacists, a signing event was held, which attracted so many people that expo workers had a difficult job controlling the crowd. But Cha enjoyed the event, and posed for many pictures with guests.
