- Won top prize in ‘2011 Korea Star Awards’
- Pen injector, the first of its kind to be developed with Korean technology, 
  expected to grow as a global product



The Pen Injector developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical (President Lee Jong Wook) as a ‘first of its kind’ product in Korea won the grand prize from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy in the “2011 Future Packaging New Technology Governmental Award (Korea Star Awards),” which were held on the 14th in Ilsan KINTEX. This award is given to packaging products deemed as excellent in terms of technology, economic value and effect on adjacent industry. The award is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. Daewoong Pharmaceutical is the first pharmaceutical company to win the Minister’s prize. Following the company’s receipt of the director’s prize of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology for ‘Daewoong EGF medicine’ container at the 2009 Korea Star Awards, this award has proved the excellent packaging ability of Daewoong. 

The Korea Star Awards, now in their 5th year, aim to recognize individuals and companies that have contributed to the development of the packaging industry. Daewoong’s pen injector was highly appreciated for the use of its own independent technology, its cost-effectiveness, and its easy control function using the reset button.

The pen injector, which will be launched on the market at the end of July, can measure the accurate amounts required for different disposal injectors. It can also be applied to medicines that require long-term administration, such as growth hormone or insulin. A spokesperson for Daewoong commented that the company “expects it to grow as a global product through quality improvement and cost reduction.”

Meanwhile, the awarded products will be exhibited at ‘2011 Korea Star Awards Special Exhibition Hall (Hall 3, KOREA PACK EXHIBITION HALL) until the 17th.
