- Invited lecture by Fiona Watt, distinguished stem cell research scholar

Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (President Lee Jong Wook) will hold a symposium titled "Growth Factor and Skin" during the 22ndWorld Dermatology Conference, which is to be held in Seoul from the 24th. This symposium will be held Auditorium on fl.3 COEX, Samsung-dong Seoul from 1:30 pm for 2 hours.
Professor Fiona Watt (Molecular genetics, Cambridge University, UK) and other prominent scholars will participate in the symposium to demonstrate EFG’s clinical effect and its applicability.



Fiona Watt will present information on EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor)’s mechanism, i.e. its skin healing effect during the division and reproduction of epidermal cells. In addition, Professor Lee Ju Hee of Severance Hospital, Yonsei University (Dermatology) will talk about the use of EGF in dermatology, and Professor Desmond Tobin of Bradford University will make a presentation on the relationship between EFG and hair. Professor Choi Jin of Seoul Asan Hospital (Pathology) will prove that EGF is not related to cancer through her research on how cancer cells operate in EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor).

EGF is an injury healing material generated by the body. It was discovered in 1962 by Dr. Stanley Cohen, who eventually received a Nobel Prize for his discovery in 1986. Since then, it has been commercialized as a remedy for healing injuries and removing wrinkles.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical will also hold an event in which caricatures are drawn of the attendees, and an iPad 2 will be given to 5 attendants through a lucky draw.

The world dermatology conference, which will open on the 24th and run for 6 days at COEX, Samsung-dong, is a mega-size international conference ranking in the top 10 of international conferences. It is held every four years, and will accommodate 12,000 guests from over 100 countries. There are a total of 320 symposiums held, with 1200 speakers.
